According to NAR (National Association Of Realtors),

For Sale  By Owner FSBO listings accounted for only 8 percent of the homes sold by owners direct.  There are many reasons for this. FSBO listings are actually the worst direction to take when selling your property.  One of the primary reasons that homeowners decide not to use a Realtor when selling their home, is to save the commission.  That concept actually backfires,  as a result turns into a much lower sales price.

Craigslist is one of the biggest hunting grounds for scammers, criminals, and dangerous people you really do NOT want to be admitting to your home. You would not let a stranger into your home, so why advertise to them.  Unfortunately, the scammers looks for owners to prey on.   They would think twice before sitting with a Realtor that requires all their necessary credentials.

Most if not all Realtors today utilize the internet.  Realtors have all the marketing tools necessary in order to market and advertise your property.  Not to mention, that Realtors pay thousands of dollars a year for marketing and unique access to their own MLS database respectively.  As a result, their listings are syndicated to over 100 real estate websites and newspapers.  This type of advertising can be seen not only on a local level but internationally as well!  Scary!

Hiring a sales agent does not cost you a dime.  Realtors work strictly for commission.  In fact, using the right experienced Realtor will screen potential buyers, prior to showing your property so your time is not waisted.  In fact, you might even make some money using a Realtor.  A Realtor knows through the MLS database of what your property is worth.  As a result it would be to your mutual benefit to use the right experienced Realtor.
